Job Summary

An intern in University Marketing will perform duties to assist with the creation and maintenance of various University marketing print and Web design projects. They will also provide basic office support including answering the phone and contact with visitors. Based on the individual’s skill set, job will include some level of graphic design and faculty/staff design support. This position reports to the Creative Director.

Options

  1. Student completes 120 work hours (7.5 hours/week) for 2 credit hours. May only be completed during a 16-week semester.
  2. Student completes 60 work hours (7.5 hours/week) for 1 credit hour. Must be completed within 8 consecutive weeks. This option may be completed during a summer term, however the student must would still need to complete 60 work hours at 15 hours/week. Students wishing to complete a maximum of 2 credit hours durring summer terms require special consideration.
  3. Students wishing to complete 3 credit hour internships require special consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills including graphic and Web design.
  • Provides basic office support for University Marketing.
  • Works as part of the University Marketing team and with other intern students with a variety of skill sets.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

  • Basic graphic design skills with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Quark Express.
  • Working knowledge of Macintosh computer systems, scanners, etc.
  • Basic photography skills 
  • Ability to assist faculty/staff with development of marketing projects, plans, etc.

Working Conditions and Atmosphere

Routine office environment including contact with visitors, students, faculty, and staff. The majority of work must be completed in the office, as part of "real world" experience that classes can not offer. Limited work could be completed in a computer lab on campus. Interns are encouraged to attend various University events.
